Of course, there are many different types of retaining walls – and picking the right variety is key to any project. Concrete retaining walls are one of the options that you have available to you – and they’re a fabulous option for a number of reasons (a few of which we’ll run through below!). Varied Options, Consistent Quality

When you make the decision to go with a concrete retaining wall, you do so because you want a strong, stable wall that will stand the test of time. That’s going to be the case, regardless of any other choices you make. Still, it’s worth mentioning that with concrete retaining walls, it’s possible to have either poured concrete or retaining wall blocks. In both cases, the end result is exceptional. Blocks are probably the more popular choice, but with poured concrete you do have outstanding flexibility.

Reinforced Walls

Besides conventional block and poured concrete retaining walls, it’s also worth noting that we’re capable of building you a cantilever retaining wall as well. This brand of wall is constructed using reinforced concrete and boasts an L or T-shaped structural design. Thanks to the long base on the bottom of the wall, they’re extremely stable and resilient to movement of the surrounding earth. Due to the nature of the cantilever wall’s structure, it’s far more common to use these designs for new slopes, rather than existing uneven terrain.

Plain or Decorated?

Cast your mind to concrete constructions for a second. The chances are, you imagined something fairly plain, right? That’s understandable. Many concrete structures are left their natural color, but you don’t have to have it that way. You can choose to paint and decorate your concrete retaining wall to give it a jazzier look. Obviously, if you’d prefer a simple backdrop that doesn’t demand a lot of attention, then plain concrete is a fine choice too.

Repelling Forces

If you’re creating something for your outdoor spaces, you need to be sure that it has the physical capacity to handle difficult conditions. Retaining walls need to deal with the presence of moisture, plant growth, wind, and sun – not to mention the pressure caused by the weight of the earth they’re holding back! Concrete is the perfect choice for these reasons. It’s more than capable of withstanding any of these pressures, delivering long-lasting service at the same time.
